Overtime win for Tornado

06 November 2016

Tornado made a victorious trip to Dijon on Saturday evening. After lot of exciting events, the game ended 4-3 overtime won for the away team.

Dijon had a full roster with 20 players so they were able to keep high tempo through the game. Dijon were controlling the game slightly more than Tornado but Tornado's goalkeeper Gilles Mangen was the man on the spot and gave away team keys for the win.

First goal was seen in the half away of the first period, when after a face off win Teemu Hinkula moved the puck to Kevin Grönlund, who gave it to David Muller on the front of the net. After solid deke, Muller had an easy job to put the puck into the empty net. Only one minute after Dijon managed to tie the game and first period ended 1-1 on the scoreboard.

In the second period it was Tornado again who scored the first goal. In time 35:53 Teemu Hinkula used his world class wrister after getting good pass from Kevin Grönlund. Second assistant for the goal was Tony "The Window Cleaner" Jakubse. Looks like Hinkula's NHL trip to US and gained 5 extra kilos had really paid off, so hard and accurate the shot was. In the end of the period Tornado took two penalties and Dijon had two men power play. Dijon didn't miss the chance and the scored their 2nd goal only 42 seconds before the end of the period.

In the third period it was Dijon this time who started scoring. They got the lead first time in the game at the time 51:28. But Tornado's didn't give up. Looks like these game recaps starts to repeat itself. It's hard to say how many times befor here has been the sentence " As so many times before Colm Cannon showed his character as a leading player". So it was again. In time 54:43 Mr. C tied the game with one timer shot after being fed by Marcus Eriksson and Sebastien Grein.

So the game went to the overtime which was played 3 against 3 players. This type of playing offers lot of chances for both teams. So it was this time also. 65:52 on the clock The Man of The Match David Muller decided to end the game. After stealing the puck on own zone, he did a coast to coast skate and shot the puck into the net and led Tornado to its 3rd win of the season!

Tornado will continue their season next Saturday in Kockelscheuer, when the group leader Epinal will travel to Luxembourg. The game is very important for Tornado. The win is needed to keep up the play off dream. Game starts at 19.00. Be there, the team needs your support!
