Dijon II Wins Close one, 4-3 Over Tornado Luxembourg

The Tornado Luxembourg visited the Dijon on January 26th in the Patinoire municipale Dijon, where the Tornado Luxembourg suffered a close 4-3 loss. This is the 3rd consecutive loss for the Tornado Luxembourg.



The first period was in the hands of the home team. Cyril Cassan scored the opening goal of the game for the hosts at 5:58 on a feed from Nicolas Lacroix and Brice Miolane. At the end of the first, the score was 1-0 for the benefit of the home team.



The visiting team came back stronger to win the second period and took over the lead of the game. Emil Folkesson brought his team back to the game by scoring the tying goal on a pass by Ronny Scheier. At 24:54, it was Toni Jakubse who put the puck in the net again for the guests on a pass by Colm Cannon. Toni Jakubse scored another goal for the guests at 33:25 on a pass by Colm Cannon. At the end of the second, the score was 1-3 for the Tornados.



The final reaction of the home team came in the last period, as they managed to take over the lead and win the game. Jan Babic scored a goal for the Dijon II at 40:27 on a feed from David Dauphin. At 44:10, Yann Sordel put the scores level at 3 all. The hosts continued their run, as Jacques Evrard scored the 4-3 on an assist by Axel Schanen and David Dauphin. At the end of the final period, the score was 4-3.



Topscorer of the game was David Dauphin of the Dijon II with 3 points. The improved performance of Toni Jakubse was also in the spotlight, as he scored a new personal season-high 2 points.Out of these two teams' last 4 encounters, Dijon II won 75% of the games (3 out of 4).



"We played a really good game, played well together as a team, worked hard and played disciplined. But sadly with only 11 players we were to tired towards the end", said Luxembourg player Marcus Eriksson.



The Tornados are now 6th in the standings, one point behind Chalons and one point in front of last-placed Besançon. Next on the schedule for the Tornado Luxembourg is the IHC Beaufort II on February 2nd.
