Preview: Tornado Luxembourg faces Remparts de Tours II

06 March 2014

The Tornado Luxembourg will meet the Remparts de Tours II at home on Saturday for the second and maybe last playoff game of the 2013-2014 season. In these two teams' last matchup, which was the first game of the best of 2 series, it was the Remparts de Tours II who took home a 9-3 win.

For the Tornados, it's a do-or-die situation. Not only do they need to win, but they need to win with 6 goals difference. This will be a huge challenge, without a doubt.

The Tours Remparts scored 90 goals during the regular season of the group A, while allowing 48 goals against. They finished the season on the second place. Even though the Tornados only allowed 30 goals against in the regular season, they scored almost half as many goals as the Remparts: 49 goals scored in 10 games. This proves that the Remparts are a very offensive team that allows a lot of goals. It's something that the Tornados will have to adjust to, offensively as well as defensively.

The first game was a tight one until the end of the second period. The Tornados were down 3-4 after 40 minutes, and even managed to win the second period 3-2. However, the team collapsed in the third period and lost the game 3-9.

Players to keep an eye on right now are Colm Cannon, Sacha Backes and Vesa Hirvonen from the Tornado Luxembourg, as well as Bastien Quinsac, Mathieu Pasquier and Naoki Kaneko from Remparts de Tours II, as they have called attention to themselves during the past few games.

The Tornados will without a doubt seek revenge and will try to at least win the game at home. EVERYBODY needs to come to Kockelscheuer to support the Tornados for this battle, which may be the last of the season!
