Tornado lost 6-4 after a good fight

30 October 2016

Luxembourg Tornado travelled to Colmar on Saturday evening. Both team played good fair hockey. Colmar was focusing on counter attacks and power play when Tornados presented their physical part by winning most of the battles.

Game started with an even amount of strength possession. At the 9th minute home team managed to take a 1-0 lead after counter attack. Just 30 seconds later new comer Sebastien Grein released Ossi Uotila to breakaway. This experienced player rarely misses these changes neither did he this time, Uotila made a smooth deke and the puck found its way to the net between the goalie’s legs. At the end of the period home team scored two more goals and the first break started with the result 3-1 on the scoreboard.

In the second period Tornado had lot of shots to the net, but they managed to score only once when Sebastien Grein scored his first Tornado goal. At the same time Colmar did score twice in the period so after 40 minutes there was 5-2 on the scoreboard.

Tornado didn’t give up. As so many times before Colm Cannon showed his character as a leading player and scored two goals just in 2 minutes and suddenly Tornado was only one goal behind. After that Colmar decided to kill Tornado’s momentum by taking time out. The tactical move worked well and few minutes later Colmar got a power play which they succeed to use and scored their 6th goal.

Tornado was pushing and pushing in the end but they didn’t succeed to score a goal. So the game ended with the score 6-4 for the home team.

Next Saturday Tornado will travel to Dijon. Next home game will be played on 12th of November.
