The underdog Tornado Luxembourg hosted the leader Colmar Titans in the Patinoire Kockelscheuer on February 9th, where the Tornado Luxembourg beat the odds and send the league leader home with a 4-2 loss.

The visiting team was stronger than the Tornados in the first period. Topscorer Jonathan Boehrer scored the first goal of the game for the guests at 15:10 on a pass by Maxime Loeffel and Benjamin Adam. Michaël Tin tallied again for the Colmar Titans at 19:42 on a pass by Jonathan Boehrer. At the end of the first, the score was 0-2 for the benefit of the visiting team.

The home team came back strong in the second period. The answer came in the first minute, as Steven Minden scored for his team on an assist by Sacha Backes. Colm Cannon tied it 2-2 at 36:51. With 2 periods played, the score was 2-2.

It was the home team who started taking over the game in the final episode. Teemu Hinkula scored another goal for the hosts at 49:29 on an assist by Sacha Backes. Another goal followed shortly after, as Toni Jakubse scored the 4th goal for his team. At the final whistle, the score was 4-2.

"Like last game, we had a great team performance last night, which gave us the win. Even though we were down by 2, no one stopped fighting and everyone kept trying hard. It was great to see that we finally managed to be disciplined and stayed out of the box, which I think was a big contribution to the win. Shame this came at the end of the season", said Toni Jakubse of the Tornado Luxembourg.

Best scorers of the game were Colm Cannon, Jonathan Boehrer and Sacha Backes with 2 points each. Out of these two teams' last 4 encounters, Colmar Titans won 75% of the games (3 out of 4). It was rather surprising because Colmar is currently first in the standings and will head into the playoffs as one of the favorites. Even though the win didn't change much on the Tornados situation, it was an important one for the morale of the team. Next on the schedule for the Tornado Luxembourg is the Aigles de Besançon on February 16th.
