On December 7th the Tornado Luxembourg hosted the Gaulois Chalons in the Patinoire Kockelscheuer, where the 4th ranked Gaulois Chalons suffered a close 4-3 loss in a game which was a true thriller.

The visiting team was stronger than their opponent in the first period. It was Marek Hanes who opened the scoring for the guests at 12:01 on a pass by Julien Delaunois. At 14:37, it was Tristan Lohou who put the puck in the net again for the guests after being assisted by Gregory Loue. It didn't take their opponent much time to answer though, as Sacha Backes scored only 3 minutes later on a feed from Colm Cannon. At the end of the first, the score was 1-2 for the benefit of the visiting team.

The visiting team didn't change it's game and hold on to the lead during the second period. Luca Rivoira tallied for the guests at 21:46 on an assist by Arnaud Briand. With 2 periods played, the score was 1-3.

In the final period, the home team came back strong and turned the game around. The 2-3 was scored by Julien Dequidt after being assisted by Colm Cannon. Julien Dequidt tied it 3-3 at 51:51. The hosts continued their run, as Colm Cannon scored the 4-3 only 14 seconds before the final whistle after being assisted by Yannick Hamri. In the end, the score was 4-3.

Best scorer of the game was Colm Cannon of the Tornado Luxembourg with 3 points. The improved performance of Julien Dequidt was also in the spotlight, as he scored a new personal season-high 2 points. The very sad news are that some players from Chalons demolished the locker room in the Kockelscheuer icerink after being frustrated over this loss. We would like to remind our opponents of an old saying which says "What happens on the ice, stays on the ice". With this win, the Tornados secured their third place in the standings and can keep their hopes for a playoff spot high. We are now midway through the season, and the Tornados are have 4 points advance to runner-up Chalons. The Tornado Luxembourg will play their next game on December 14th against Deuil-Garges, whereas the Gaulois Chalons meet with Le Havre on December 21st.
