<div><span style="font-size:14pt;">At the IIHF Annual Congress taking place in Tampere, Finland from 26-28.05.2022 the groups, host nations and dates of every 2023 World Championships are being decided. We can reveal that our Luxembourg Senior Men's national team will travel to Cape Town, South Africa from <strong>17-23.04.2023 </strong>to compete against DPR Korea, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and hosts South Africa. </span>

<div><span style="font-size:14pt;">We can announce that our Under 18 Men's team have been promoted to an expanded Division III Group A. They will compete against Iceland, Israel, Mexico, Bosnia &amp; Herzegovina and Turkey. The host nation and dates are being voted on at the congress today (27/05/2022). Stay tuned for more information in the coming days and weeks.</span></div>

General Assembly coming up on July 20th

<div>On Saturday 30th of April - the last day of ice before the ice rink shuts down for the summer break - the Tornado Luxembourg organized a fun tournament among its members. Players from different teams of the club, such as the Tornado's first team, Puckers, Cool Puckers, Tornado Women as well as some youth prospects, met and played in completely mixed teams in a tournament that had mainly one goal: Having some fun!

The Puckers Luxembourg, who are known to contribute to a lot of fun, were away during this weekend as they <a href="https://www.tornadoluxembourg.com/archive-81997v4/news/32876">played in Briançon in the Semi-Finals of the French D4 league</a>.</div>

<div>Nonetheless, over 60 players participated, mixed up randomly accross 5 teams. Everyone enjoyed 4 hours of fierce hockey in a fun atmosphere.</div>

A big thank you also goes out to the referees, Jérôme Becker and Donal Cannon, who have volunteered to referee all the games of this event!</div>

<div>The club would also like to express its thankfulness towards all the team captains and managers, but also the volunteers, who all pulled together to set this event up, but who have also invested significant amounts of time and effort into organizing their teams throughout the year. They are the club's true MVP's of the season!</div>

<div>This Barbeque and Hockey Tournament have been a great effort to bring the #TornadoFamily together, have some fun and enjoy the sport of hockey!</div>

First end of season tournament and barbecue were a big success!

<div>The Luxembourg Puckers, part of the #TornadoFamily , finish in second place overall and 1 point behind the Semi-final playoff winner Lyon.  <div><br />Puckers had lost the second game of the day on Saturday to Lyon by a final of 14-6.  Despite leading 4-1 after the first period, the Puckers team with an average player age of 44 years were tired mentally and physically in the second third periods and ended up losing the match to a strong and determined Lyon team whose average player age was 11 years less than the Puckers.</div><div><br />Puckers played their third and final game on Sunday against Tours and were resilient and committed to getting the win to at least finish with a playoff record of 2 wins and 1 loss.  All three lines of the Puckers were on fire and it resulted in a 21-5 win over Tours.<br />Puckers Hard hats were given to Miikka "The Finnish Flash" Heinonen for his solid play against Lyon and to David Jozek for his stellar play on defense against Tours.<br />The Puckers did not qualify for the Finals in Meudon with the second place finish.  The season is now officially over.  The team is now heading back to Luxembourg feeling proud of a very good season where they finished undefeated in the North East division (7 wins and 1 tie) and with a winning record in the semi-finals held in Briançon.</div><div><br />WE THANK ALL YOU FANS OUT THERE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ENCOURGEMENT!!</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Credits: Puckers</div></div>

We had a blast!<br />We’d also like to thank Sacha Backes, Luxembourg national team player, for your presence as a coach by our side during this amazing first tournament! <br />A last thank you to all the fans and helpers that kept supporting us throughout the weekend!</div></div>
