Tornado secures victory over Metz

06 February 2024

First home game for the Tornados in the new year and it starts with a cracker. On 3 February, the Tornados will welcome the seventh-placed team in the table from the French city of Metz, a good 50 km away, in a sold-out arena. Both sets of fans have been eagerly awaiting this derby since the start of the season.

On paper, the encounter should be a clear-cut affair, as the Tornados have 14 points more than their rivals from the Grand Est.

The Tornados were the dominant team right from the start and were able to take the lead in the first period with three goals from different players (Öörny, Mauer and Leonard). In the second period, the Tornados keeper was beaten twice, but the Tornados always found the right answer through the players Holodokovs and Dahlgren. In the final period, the Tornados didn't let anything get in their way and remained in the lead with goals from Holodokovs, Mauer and Leonard. The Tornados were not to be denied victory today.

With their 9:3 win against Metz, the Tornados were able to extend their winning streak and vehemently defend their second place in the table. This leaves only one last decisive home game in the regular season on 24 February against direct rivals Evry-Viry (get your ticket).
