Season preview 2017/18 - Part 2 - The group

17 September 2017

In the first practice coach Fical made it clear, the goal for this season is to reach the spot in play-off. Last season Tornado became fifth in the group which could be easily called the best group in D3.

Last season all 4 teams from our group qualified to the second play-off round and in the final tournament Chalons and Epinal conquered two first places. It means that Chalons promoted to the 2nd division. During the summer, we got surprising news. One of the teams in D2 left their spot and that spot was given to Valenciennes, who also played in our group. So, in the end two teams from our group promoted and the third one became second in the whole division.

This season the group has changed quite much. Tornado will play in a group B and have opponents from north west of France. Only Reims and Amiens are left from our last year's group. Other teams are Asnières(relegated from D2), Cergy (4 wins and 10 losts in D3 last season), Courbevoie (6-7 in D3), Deuil-Garges(12-2, 2015-2016 in D3), Garges (0-16 in D3) and Caen (12-3 in D3). Tornado's scouting team has been working hard whole summer to find out what kind of teams our new opponents are. More detailed information about opponents will follow in game reviews.

As a conclusion, we can say that there is no reason why Tornado couldn't reach the aim which coach Fical has set. To reach the aim we need not only 100 % commitment from the team but also support from our amazing fans. Last year we did notice in the latest home games and especially in the world championship that there is lot of potential for hockey in Luxembourg. So people, let’s get bigger together!
