Short 2008-09 Season Recap

13 August 2009

The 2008-2009 Season was a pretty good one for the Tornado Luxembourg. Believe it or not, it was the best ever since Tornado plays in the French Championship. Having two top forwards, namely Robert Beran and Benny Welter, on the team, the Tornado Luxembourg had one of the strongest offensive lines in the league.

The Regular Season
The Tornado Luxembourg finished the regular season on the third place, behind Strasbourg and Epinal, after having some lineup problems at the beginning of the season. Benny Welter was the second best forward of the East Division with 10 points in 8 games. Coach Marian Gallo knew how to improve the teamplay and managed to lead the team to the playoffs.

The Playoffs
Tornado forward Robert Beran lead the group H playoff ranking with 24 points in 7 games, followed by Jimmy Persico from Neuilly-sur-Marne with 23 points. Third in the ranking was Tornado's Benny Welter with 21 Points in 8 games. Benny Welter also was the second best scorer in the playoffs with 12 goals in 8 games. Robert Beran made by far the most assists in the whole league: 15 assist in 7 games, leaving behind him Julien Boulet of the Français Volants with 11 assists in 8 games. The Tornado Luxembourg finished the Playoffs on the third rank after losing a quite disappointing game in Neuilly-sur-Marne.
