The Kockelscheuer Ice Rink was buzzing with playoff energy and a massive crowd, but Game 1 of the Round of 16 ultimately went to the visitors. Tornado Luxembourg fell 6-3 to a highly structured Renards de Roanne squad, but they showed enough resilience to prove this series isn't over yet.

Game Recap: A Tale of Three Periods
The evening started perfectly for the home side. Tornado came out with intensity and struck first, taking a 1-0 lead thanks to an early goal by Nolan Eriksson that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
However, Roanne quickly demonstrated why they were a top-three team in Group B. The visitors took control of the tempo and unleashed a relentless offensive push, scoring five unanswered goals before the end of the second period.
Facing a daunting 1-5 deficit heading into the final frame, Tornado refused to wave the white flag. The third period was much tighter and fiercely contested. Tornado Legends Grigorijs Holodkovs and Colm Cannon both found the back of the net to cut into the lead. Roanne managed to add one more of their own, but Tornado's late push proved they can compete with the Foxes when they find their rhythm.

Coach’s Reaction: Pride in the Pushback
Head Coach Christer Eriksson was realistic about the opponent's quality but immensely proud of his team's character, especially under difficult circumstances.
"Tough game against a very good team. They were really complete and we struggled to come into the rhythm they imposed. Slowly but surely we grew into it, and I'm really satisfied that we never 'gave up.' Even after 1-5, we were playing a full 60 minutes and showed that we can go to Roanne next Saturday and give them a real game."

Eriksson also made sure to highlight the heroic effort of the backline:
"Special mention to our defense, which played with only five guys the whole game as we still have some guys out with injuries."

Next Up: Do or Die in Roanne
The scenario is now simple: Win, or the season is over.
Tornado will travel to Roanne this coming Saturday for Game 2. After finding their footing in the third period of Game 1, the boys know what it takes to break through Roanne's structure. It will require a massive road effort, but if any team can pull off a playoff surprise with their backs against the wall, it's Tornado.
