Coupe de France: A Division 1 Opponent Comes to Kockelscheuer

Preseason is officially over. Now the competitive season begins.
This Saturday, September 26, Tornado Luxembourg welcomes Étoile Noire de Strasbourg to Kockelscheuer for the first official game of the 2026/27 season — a Coupe de France clash against a Division 1 side.
A Different Level of Opposition
Strasbourg competes one division above Tornado and finished 3rd in Division 1 last season. Their visit therefore offers Luxembourg hockey fans a rare opportunity to see a D1 team in action at Kockelscheuer.
The two teams already crossed paths earlier this month during the preseason tournament in Épinal, where Tornado recorded a 7–5 win.
But Saturday will be a very different occasion. Preseason results tell only part of the story, and Strasbourg did not field its complete first-team roster in Épinal. This time, there are Cup stakes, competitive intensity and a place in the next round on the line.
A Big Night Before D2 Begins
For Tornado, the game comes at an interesting moment.
The team has just completed a busy preseason, finishing with a 5–4 win over Mulhouse at Kockelscheuer. New players have been settling into the group, combinations are developing and the team is gradually finding its rhythm.
Facing opposition from the division above will bring a different pace and intensity — and require the group to stay disciplined, work hard together and make the most of its opportunities.
Whatever happens on Saturday, it promises to be a valuable night of competitive hockey just one week before Tornado begins its Division 2 campaign.
