Tornado Luxembourg sent a massive shockwave through Division 2 on Saturday night, shutting out last year’s group winners, Hogly, with a flawless 2-0 victory at Kockelscheuer.
Ginier's Masterclass in Net
The unanimous Man of the Match was found right between the pipes. Goaltender Clément Ginier delivered a rock-solid performance, remaining an unbreakable wall for all sixty minutes. Ginier was especially critical during a tense third period when Hogly threw everything they had at the net, making massive stops to preserve the shutout and secure the victory.
International Firepower and Local Pride
The offensive damage was entirely delivered by the newly formed Canadian-Finnish line. Jan Shikera, Félix Sigouin, and Rowan Miller showed relentless effort and offensive chemistry, combining to score both of Tornado's goals before Sigouin's night was cut short by a game misconduct.
Beyond the import talent, a special shoutout belongs to 17-year-old Luxembourg product Leopold Toft. The young forward proved he is absolutely capable of competing at the Division 2 level, earning the coaching staff's trust to be on the ice during the crucial, high-pressure final minutes of a tight game.
Coach’s Reaction: "Excellent Warriors"
Head Coach Christer Eriksson praised the squad's character, noting a progression in intensity throughout the game.
"Excellent collective, 4 lines which was 'growing' into the game. The first period (as the two last home games) was a bit 'attentive'—we need to work on that. But from the second period, I just see 'the excellent warriors' on the ice."
Eriksson emphasized that this was the definition of a team win, anchored by elite goaltending.
"A tough game against a top team with a goalie doing those saves which keep us in the game. Hope we will be able to ride on this second half of the game and deliver this collective level, then we will be difficult to beat... Overall a team victory where everyone kept up their 'lowest levels'."
Next Up: Paris and Orléans
The team will look to ride this massive wave of momentum on the road next weekend as they travel to Paris to face Français Volants.
They return to Kockelscheuer the following week on Saturday 17 October,to host Orléans [Get your Ticket Here!].
