Tornado Luxembourg beat Gaulois Chalons for first time in 8 matchups

On December 15th in their own building, the Tornado Luxembourg played the Gaulois Chalons, where the home team turned it up a notch and pounded the Gaulois Chalons, 11-6. This result leads the Tornado Luxembourg to their 3rd straight win.



The visiting team was stronger than their opponent in the first period. Teemu Hinkula scored the opening goal of the game for the hosts at 4:48. Arnaud Briand tied it 1-1 at 12:31 on an assist by Albin Terrenoire and Marek Hanes. The answer came only 51 seconds later, as Bob Schneider scored for his team on a pass by Teemu Hinkula. But it didn't take their opponent much time to recover, as Marek Hanes tied the game only 2 minutes later on a pass by Arnaud Briand. At 17:51, Marek Hanes scored another goal for the Gaulois Chalons on an assist by Albin Terrenoire. At the end of the first, the score was 2-3, giving the visiting team the lead.



The home team came back stronger to win the second period and take over the lead of the game. The guests continued their run, as Arnaud Briand scored the 2-4. The answer came only 1 minute later, as Mathieu Moise scored for his team. The tie came only 2 minutes later, as Teemu Hinkula scored the 4-4. The hosts kept their pace and Sacha Backes scored only 2 minutes later. Colm Cannon added another goal only 2 minutes later. Ronny Scheier tallied again for the Tornado Luxembourg at 31:22. The Gaulois Chalons responded only 36 seconds later, as Marek Hanes scored a goal. 3 minutes after the puck last crossed the goal line, Emil Folkesson scored the 8-5. The hosts kept the momentum on their side, as Mathias Snickars, who played his first game for the Tornados, scored only 19 seconds later. The score was 9-5 at the end of the second.



The home team held on to their lead and kept control of the game throughout the third and last period. Another goal came at 44:58, when Sacha Backes scored for the hosts. Vivien Schweitzer tallied for the guests at 54:14. At 59:25, Mathias Snickars scored the 11th goal for the Tornado Luxembourg after being assisted by Teemu Hinkula. The score was 11-6 at the end of the final period.



Marek Hanes and Colm Cannon were the topscorers of the game with 5 points each. Ronny Scheier stood out by scoring a season-high 2 points. Out of these two teams' last 8 encounters, Gaulois Chalons won 87.5% of the games (7 out of 8). With this win, the Tornados took back the 5th place of the standings again, while Chalons have fallen back to the 6th. On December 18th the Tornado Luxembourg will face the Hiversport Huskies Luxembourg in Alter Domus Cup action.
